Functional Electrical Stimulation – Stepping
Available across Australia. Contact Us to Get Started:
Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) activates paralysed and weak arm and legs by stimulating the muscles to contract while performing different exercises to help with movement and improve blood circulation. Additionally, it can also reduce muscle wastage and pressure injuries.
Our NeuroMoves Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists can safely deliver the therapy in tandem with upper limb and lower limb cycling, stepping exercises or whilst performing functional movements such as sit to stand, hand grip movements and grasping an object.
Our team uses Restorative Therapies RT300 upper and lower limb cycles and Xcite machines, as well as a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation machine, more commonly known as TENS.
Functional Electrical Stimulation can be beneficial for people with spinal cord injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries and cerebral palsy.
