Meet the Team: Ebony joins NeuroMoves Brisbane!

  • Liberty Smith

After previously spending four years with NeuroMoves, Ebony is excited to rejoin the team and bring her passion for neuro physiotherapy to our expanding Brisbane team.

With almost six years of experience across private practice, public health and specialist spinal rehabilitation, she’s now welcoming new clients with immediate physiotherapy availability at our Petrie clinic and through mobile appointments across Brisbane’s metro and southside!

From a young age, I loved being outdoors and for a while I was convinced I’d end up as a marine biologist. As I got older, though, my path began to change.

Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I was exposed to many different health professionals and saw first-hand the difference rehabilitation can make in someone’s life.

A huge part of my decision to become a physiotherapist was my beautiful Mum, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) when I was just one year old. Growing up alongside her journey gave me a unique perspective on the challenges that people living with neurological conditions face, but also the incredible impact that the right support, therapy and encouragement can have.

Looking back, I was always someone who felt things very deeply and cared greatly about the people around me. As I matured, I realised that empathy wasn’t just part of my personality, it was one of my greatest strengths.

It naturally led me towards a career where I could build meaningful relationships, support people through some of their most challenging times, and celebrate every achievement with them, no matter how big or small.

Today, I’m incredibly grateful that I get to combine my passion for helping people with my love of neurological rehabilitation every day!

I decided to do a Bachelor of Exercise Science followed by a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia. During my degree I completed a variety of clinical placements, but it was my neurological placement that truly confirmed I’d found the area I wanted to dedicate my career to.

I graduated at the end of 2019 and have now been working as a physiotherapist for almost six years.

Over that time, I’ve gained experience across both the private and public health sectors. I spent four years with NeuroMoves, working across clinics in Adelaide and Sydney, before expanding my experience in public health across Victoria and Queensland.

Most recently, I worked within the Spinal Injuries Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, where I further developed my skills in neurological and spinal rehabilitation.

These diverse experiences have given me the opportunity to work with people across all stages of their rehabilitation journey and continue to shape the way I approach patient-centred care.

Without a doubt, the thing I love the most about the job is the people.

I’m a genuine people person and connecting with others is what energises me every day. I love getting to know each person’s story, working together towards meaningful goals, and celebrating the milestones along the way.

Neuro physiotherapy is incredibly rewarding because no two days (or two people) are ever the same. I enjoy the challenge of constantly learning, developing my clinical skills and thinking creatively to help each individual achieve the best outcomes possible.

One motto I’ve always lived by is if I can improve someone’s day by just 1%, then my day is already 100% worthwhile. Whether that’s helping someone achieve a new physical goal, build confidence, or simply leave a session feeling happier than when they arrived, those moments are what make this career so fulfilling.

I’m excited to re-join part of a passionate team that shares the same commitment to delivering high-quality neurological care.

I’m looking forward to meeting new people, building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues, and continuing to learn through new and diverse clinical experiences.

I’m also excited about working as a hybrid therapist, providing care both in the clinic and out in the community. Whether someone prefers clinic-based rehabilitation or needs the flexibility of therapy in their home or community, I believe everyone deserves access to high-quality neurological rehabilitation that’s tailored to their individual goals and lifestyle.

Ebony is now welcoming new clients, with immediate availability!
