We are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2025 David Prast Achievement Award, Isobel Ahern, NeuroMoves Exercise Physiologist.

Each year SCIA and Spinal Cure come together to support a generous $15,000 annual professional development award for an outstanding and highly dedicated NeuroMoves therapist in memory of the very remarkable David Prast.

Each year, this award recognises individuals whose work demonstrates exceptional leadership, innovation, and impact within our field. This year’s nominees represented an impressive breadth of talent and achievement.

Due to the exceptional quality of this year’s applications, SpinalCure provided an additional contribution of $2,500, which was matched by SCIA, resulting in a supplementary $5,000 professional development travel scholarship awarded to Jodie Sim, NeuroMoves Exercise Physiologist. This secondary prize enabled Jodie Sim to attend the 2025 ISCoS conference (international spinal cord society, scientific meeting) in Sweden.

Isobel will be using her prize to develop her skills in innovative practice and will travel to the United States of America to participate in the NISE spinal stimulation course with Gerti Motavelli, as well as attending the AusACPD biennale conference in Hobart- all in pursuit of improved outcomes for persons with a spinal cord injury. It is a condition of receiving this award that Isobel will support the professional development of other NeuroMoves therapists through a ‘give-back’ training approach.

SCIA & SpinalCure’s vision is focussed on creating a team of exceptional Physiotherapists & Exercise Physiologists who have world class opportunities to develop innovative clinical practice skills & who strive to pursue excellence in service of NeuroMoves program. Please join us in congratulating Isobel & Jodie!
